Glenn Armstrong, an experienced and active volunteer, is taking on the exciting role of advocacy program officer for Manitoba.
Federal Retirees is pleased to welcome Glenn Armstrong as the new advocacy program officer (APO) for Manitoba.
Armstrong, a Winnipeg branch member, is the Association’s newest APO. Armstrong takes over from Cynthia Foreman who has served in the role since 2021. Foreman’s term has come to an end. However, with a provincial election on the horizon, Foreman and Armstrong will be collaborating to ensure Manitoba volunteers are supported during the election campaign.
Armstrong retired from the public service in June of 2015 after 33 years of service, working for several departments in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa.
Beginning with Employment and Immigration, Armstrong went on to work for the departments of Human Resources Development, Veterans Affairs, Public Works and Government Services and Industry Canada, retiring in the role of executive director of the Manitoba Federal Council Secretariat.
Armstrong was also a guest lecturer at the Canada School of Public Service and conducted new employee orientation sessions in Winnipeg.
He also has an extensive background in volunteer service at the local, provincial, national and international levels and was appointed as the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Canada from 2005 to 2008.
Originally from Brandon, Manitoba, Armstrong and his wife, Colleen, have two grown children and three grandchildren, all located in the Prairies. They enjoy their winters in Mexico and volunteer in their local community there.
