Protect federal pensions and support retirees by volunteering as an advocacy program officer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Now is your chance to get involved in advocacy with the National Association of Federal Retirees!
The Association is looking for a volunteer to fill the role of advocacy program officer (APO) in Newfoundland and Labrador.
APOs are volunteer leaders at Federal Retirees who support the Reach 338 network and branch advocates. They help make certain that the Association is seen and that its priorities are understood by every sitting member of Parliament.
In the role of APO, you would work with district directors, our staff advocacy team, volunteers and members in your area to plan, implement and report on advocacy campaigns and activities at the federal, provincial and local levels.
Your activities could include:
- Assisting the district directors and advocacy committee in identifying advocacy priorities, plans and issues requiring action.
- Working with volunteers and members to engage MPs in your region on Federal Retirees’ priorities as part of our Reach 338 initiative.
- Liaising with our staff team and your local network on federal and provincial election campaigns to engage candidates.
Interested in this role, but haven’t been involved in Federal Retirees advocacy in the past? Don’t worry — there is lots of support available to help you be a success! The advocacy staff team, the national APO team and the Atlantic district directors will be here to support you every step of the way!
You’ll have:
- Training and guidance — including formal onboarding and regular check-ins
- A network of APOs across the country to provide mentorship, share their keys to success and brainstorm around new ideas
- Access to the advocacy staff team and District Directors for support and guidance
