The Annual Meeting of Members (AMM) provides a forum for key Association volunteers to make decisions that will affect all members. Under normal circumstances, the National Association of Federal Retirees is required to conduct its AMM within six months of the end of its fiscal year. As our fiscal year is the calendar year, this means that our AMM must usually be held by the end of June each year. However, circumstances in 2020 are far from normal.

Pursuant to subsection 160(2) of the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, the National Association of Federal Retirees applied for and received an extension from the Director of Corporations Canada of the time required to hold our 2020 AMM.

This meeting was originally scheduled to take place from June 9 to 11, 2020, in Gatineau, Québec. It will now be held electronically between November 30 and December 4, 2020 (actual date to be finalized).

As our bylaws mirror the provisions of the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, the board of directors has approved an amendment to our bylaws to allow for the AMM to be held later in the year.

Customarily, once the AMM has concluded, the Association’s audited financial statements are posted to the web. Rather than wait until the end of the year to do this, you may consult the statements now, but please note that they will not be received by the AMM until later in the year.
